Clinical
Corner provides up-to-date clinical information to the university community.
Developed in collaboration with the Department of Family Medicine,
Clinical Corner provides university health professionals and students with
fast and easy access to clinical information resources, whether the users
are in a classroom, clinic exam room, hospital ward, office, or at home.
The
new site is organized by categories which include:
Brief
information about each information source is available by clicking on information
icon beside it.
Key
electronic resources currently available through Clinical Corner include:
Stat-Ref! -- a collection of 26 full text
prominent medical text textbooks that are fully searchable. Included in this
collection are faamiliar titles such as DSM-IV, Mosby’s GenRx, titles from
the Current Diagnosis and Treatment series, Medicode’s ICD-9, etc. This resource also provides drug information
and patient education materials.
MDConsult-recently redesigned for ease of
use, this fully searchable resource includes a collection of 38 textbooks,
50 clinical jourrnals, drug information resources, and handouts for patient
education. You’ll find familiar titles here such as Mandell: Principles and
Practice of Infectious Diseases; Behrman: Nelson Textbook of Pediatrics; Gabbe:
Obstetrics - Normal and Problem Pregnancies; and Rockwood & Green’s Fractures
in Adults.
Clinical Evidence-a new resource for the
UI community, this is an excellent collection of evidence based reviews of
common medical problems sseen in a primary care setting. The collection, published
by the BMJ Publishing Group, is continually being updated and expanded. The
goal of this site is to provide a concise account of the current state of
knowledge, ignorance, and uncertainty about the prevention and treatment of
a wide range of clinical conditions based on thorough searches of the literature.
It is not a textbook of medicine or a book of guidelines. It summarizes
the best available evidence, and where there is no good evidence, it says
so. All reviews are designed for use by busy clinicians.
Harrison’s Textbook of Medicine-one of the
most widely read and respected medical texts and a favorite of many health
professionals.
Scientific American Medicine-another standard
medical text, updated continually.
Clinical Corner also includes links to Hardin
Library document delivery services as well as other local clinical web sites,
such as the Department of Family Medicine’s FPInfo (Fpinfo.medicine.uiowa.edu).
